On October 10-12 in New York City, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and Cornell University’s Global Labor Institute convened the “Energy Emergency, Energy Transition” conference. This invitation-only roundtable brought together over sixty representatives of trade unions and NGOs from more than twenty countries and five continents to discuss strategies for a transition from our current unsustainable and undemocratic energy system. Participants coordinated and worked on efforts to develop an energy system that is responsive to social and ecological needs.
With ratification of NAFTA 2.0 still up in the air in the U.S. and Canada, a new international report contrasts the deeply flawed agreement with proposals for a more progressive and truly fair trade regime.
