FIGHTING FOR OUR RIGHT TO THE CITY
Lessons from Hamburg, Barcelona, and Montreal - June 7 - Montreal

On June 7, the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung―New York Office, along with the Milton Parc Community, will host a Right to the City workshop in Montreal, featuring organizers from two of Europe’s largest Right to the City networks: Recht auf Stadt (Right to the City, Hamburg, Germany), and PAH (People Affected by the Mortgage Crisis, Spain).

Montreal is the site of Milton Parc Community (a hybrid of Milton and Parc Avenues), one of the largest housing cooperative neighborhoods in North America. The Milton Parc story represents a victory of community forces over private developers and the potential for democratic control of housing, and we will discuss how we can build on that while moving forward. The event will come as part of La Fete des voisins Milton Parc.

Featured Panelists:
Santi Mas de Xaxas: Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca (PAH) – Barcelona, Spain
Florian Kasiske, Recht auf Stadt – Hamburg, Germany
Dmitri Rossupolos, Milton Parc Community – Montreal, Canada

Public component on Sunday, June 7, 2015
1-2 PM: Screening of Si Se Puede (Documentary on PAH)
2-4 PM: Discussion on the Right to the City: Lessons from Hamburg, Barcelona, and Montreal

3720 Av du Parc, 2nd Floor (Corner of Pine Ave)
Montréal, QC H2X 2J1
