UN Special Rapporteurs Housing Roundtable

On Friday, October 23, the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung–New York Office welcomed the current United Nations Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, Leilani Farha, together with her two predecessors, Miloon Kothari and Raquel Rolnik, and other leading housing experts.

The purpose of this daylong roundtable, organized in collaboration with Ms. Farha, was to discuss the possibility of basing an international campaign around the issue of adequate housing. One possible focus addressed was homelessness, which constitutes the maximum violation of a person’s rights as they pertain to housing. Coming just one day after Ms. Farha addressed the UN’s General Assembly, this meeting more broadly represented a great opportunity to provide feedback and assist the Special Rapporteur as she progresses into the next phase of her mandate.
