RLS−NYC SUPPORTS INDIGENOUS WOMEN LEADERS AT UNPFII
UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues - NYC
The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung—New York Office is proud to present a collaboration with MADRE, an NGO focusing on women’s issues, inviting a group of indigenous women leaders to participate in co-organized events surrounding the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) taking place in New York City from May 20-31, 2013.
Two public events, on Monday May 21st at the United Nations and on Thursday May 23rd at UNICEF, will allow for indigenous women to speak about gender-based violence in their communities, and also to develop capacity and leadership training to work on such pressing issues. For more information, please visit our webpage, and also the UNPFII.
What the hell is going on in U.S. politics right now?! A democratic socialist is challenging the Clinton Empire for the heart of the Democratic Party. Meanwhile, right-wing fundamentalists and demagogues are waging war with the Republican Party’s business-elite establishment. On both left and right, discontent with status-quo politics has reached a fevered pitch, and activists are making themselves heard louder than any time since the 1960s.
